Recommendation: Be flexible regarding the location
Normally Pforzheim University may offer more places at partner institutions than needed. In fact many applications focus on a small total of partners. For getting a place in a studyabroad program student should be flexible regarding the location of a university. In any case the quality of the partner university will be adequate and quite often places Eastern European countries could be an interesting option. Up to now Pforzheim University could place all students that had passed the internal selection.

Recommendation: Apply early
In all study abroad programs you will find deadlines. In fact we accept applications normally up to one year before the official deadline. An early application could be helpful for planing the study abroad for both sides: the applicant and the university. In any case an applicant should start to collect the relevant information about the study abroad some months before the deadline of the application.

Recommendation: Check the notice-boards
International Programs gets frequently job offers from international companies; quite a number of companies are offering internships. You will find these offers on the notice boards of the International Programs Office. For further information you may contact Ms. Rosanna Oyegbesan.

Recommendation: Search for international accredited universities
The title "university" is not protected or trademarked. The quality of universities or any other institution in higher education varies. A first orientation is the national or international accreditation of a university. Please find all relevant information in the section "accreditation" of this website.

Recommendation: Rankings
Rankings bieten - auch wenn sie oftmals faktisch nicht zuverlässig (valilde und reliabel) sind - eine weitere Orientierung zur Auswahl einer ausländischen Hochschule. ähnlich der Akkreditierung werden auch in Rankings die Hochschulen nach Fachrichtungen differenziert bewertet. Die Ausnahme ist ein Hochschulranking der Shanghai Jiao Tong University (ARWU), das weltweit Hochschulen vorrangig nach Ihrer Forschungsleistung bewertet. Ebenso gibt es auch ein weltweites Ranking basierend auf den Aufrufen der websites einer Hochschule (webometrics) das auch sehr indirekt Anhaltspunkte zur Attraktivität einer Hochschule gibt... die Pforzheimer Hochschule hält hier Rang 4.920.. viertletzter Platz bei den deutschen Hochschulen.

Viele der fachbezogenen Rankings sind national. Länderübergreifende und fachbezogene Rankings gibt es eher selten... relativ am meisten internationale Rankings gibt es in den Fachrichtungen Business/Management (insbesondere MBA Programme) und Design. In den Wirtschaftswissenschaften sind bekannte internationale (wengleich oftmals US-lastig) Rankings:
